Apple product manufacturer from Taiwan, Foxconn has just introduced an electric car made by the company. The vehicle is the result of a collaboration with an automotive company in the same country, Yulon.

Launching Reuters, Foxconn introduced three electric vehicles. The three are sedan, sport utility vehicle (SUV) and bus models.

But the company has not announced the electric vehicle business plan. It is possible that SUVs will be sold under the Yulon brand in the domestic market in 2023.

According to the company, the introduction of electric cars is not just for showing off. But it also shows the company’s ambition to become one of the main players in the sector in the Asian region, quoted on Tuesday (19/10/2021).

In addition to Yulon, Foxconn is known to have entered into agreements with companies from the United States (S), Fisker Inc, and PTT PCL which is a Thai energy group.

If iPhone manufacturers are one step ahead, Apple is showing fairly slow progress with the Apple Car. The company is known to have difficulty collaborating with other parties to produce these vehicles.

The Apple Car project was launched in 2014. Since then, Apple has been talking to other companies such as Toyota, Nissan, BMW and Hyundai.

But because they couldn’t find a suitable partner, a source said Apple would go their own way to develop the electric car. The company is also reportedly selecting a final parts supplier for the project.

Launching Phone Arena, the reason Apple decided to work alone was due to frequent project delays.

Reportedly Foxconn is also reluctant to become a subcontractor for the Apple Car project. Other car manufacturers refuse to partner with Apple because they want to focus on their own business.
