Pizza restaurant Papa John plans to give nearly 20,000 Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) to customers in the UK.

A total of 19,840 NFT collections have been printed at Tezos and come in nine different pizza delivery hot bag designs. This is not Papa John’s first foray into the world of crypto and blockchain.

The Pizza restaurant chain last year launched a promotion where customers can win 10 Pounds worth of Bitcoin (BTC) when customers shop for more than 30 Pounds. This was reported by Yahoo Finance, Sunday (20/3/2022).

The promotional campaign runs counter to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, which considers it “irresponsible” for taking advantage of consumers’ lack of experience or trust and under-investment in cryptocurrencies.

Papa John has a long-standing relationship with cryptocurrencies due to the famous incident of an early Bitcoin user spending 10,000 BTC on two Papa John’s pizzas in 2010. Bitcoin, worth USD 41 or around IDR 590,543 at the time.

This is not the first time that fast food restaurants have entered the crypto world. United States-based fast food restaurant chain Shake Shack is experimenting with rewarding cryptocurrency to its customers.

This gift giving is based on the fast food company that has partnered with Block Inc and will give gifts in the form of Bitcoin to its customers.
